Is a Whole House Water Filtration System Right for Me? 4 Situations When the Answer is “Yes!”

You are here: Home / Water Softeners / Is a Whole House Water Filtration System Right for Me? 4 Situations When the Answer is “Yes!”

Water Softener vs. Water Filter. Which One is Right for Your HomeThere are many different ways that you can filter the water in your home. Your options range from rudimentary solutions like a water pitcher filter to highly advanced solutions like a whole house filtration system. If you’ve never had an advanced filtration system installed in your home, you might be wondering, “Is a whole house water filtration system right for me?” Today we’re going to help answer that question by talking about four situations in which a whole house filtration system is the best solution for filtering the water in your home!

4 situations in which a whole house water filtration system is right for you

  • You’ve had your water tested, and you don’t like the results. There are many different types of contaminants that can pollute your tap water: chemicals, bacteria, metals, hardness minerals, biological contaminants and organic matter, just to name a few. When you are trying to decide on a water filter, your first step should be to have your water tested. After you see what contaminants are in your water and at what levels, you can make an informed decision about whether you want a point-of-use system or a whole house system. If the quality of your drinking water is your only concern and you only get your drinking water from a single tap, a point-of-use system would suit your needs. If you want to eliminate all possible exposure to the contaminants discovered during your water analysis, a whole house filtration system is a much better option.
  • You don’t want to install more than one filter. Point-of-use water filters provide filtered water at a single tap. You could install multiple point-of-use systems in your home to have more than one source of filtered water. However, that could prove to be expensive and it would make a lot more sense to have one whole house filtration system installed that will filter the water for all of your taps.
  • You want to have clean shower water. Although we mostly think about water quality in terms of the water we use for drinking, what’s often overlooked is that contaminants in the water you use for bathing can also negatively affect your health. This is especially true for chlorine and THM’s, which are present in almost everybody’s tap water and can be dangerous when inhaled through water vapor in the shower. A whole house filtration system is the best solution if you want to have clean shower water because it will filter the water that comes out of every shower in your home.
  • You want to protect your plumbing system. One thing that a point-of-use system or a pitcher filter definitely can’t do is protect your plumbing system from contaminants. There are a number of water contaminants that can corrode, clog and damage your home’s pipes and water-consuming appliances. The only way you can protect your plumbing system from those contaminants is by installing a whole house water filtration system that filters your water before it is distributed throughout the pipes in your home.

If you have any questions about whether or not a whole house filtration system is right for you, or if you’d like a water system serviced or installed in your home, contact North Carolina Water Consultants, your whole house water filter and water softener dealer in North and South Carolina. We service areas all over the Carolinas, including towns like Maiden, Iron Station and Catawba, NC.
